Group Bulletin • August 2026
At HMCA we understand that membership is more than just a transaction.
Our private medical plans offer members tangible and intangible benefits. We have helped organisations since 1978 grow their communities, increase engagement, and strengthen retention.
In our latest member bulletin, we are showcasing the amazing impact our charity donations make, our latest award nominations and why we have been named a recognised supplier of MemberWise.
We’d love for you to share this information about our plans with your members, so they can benefit from the added value HMCA brings to their membership.
Jack has worked at HMCA, across multiple roles, for nine years. He now heads up our enquiries team bringing the trust, knowledge and integrity he has gained from those years of experience.
His role is to ensure that people phoning in are treated with our trademark friendly, and personal approach.
He said:
“The experience gained at the back end in claims has allowed me to provide clear answers to questions at the front end in enquiries; whether that is how we deal with claims, how the plans work, or helping enquirers understand what is and isn’t covered.
HMCA has always been a great company to work for; it treats its staff in the same personal, approachable, and friendly manor it does its members. This is clear with the number of years I have remained here!
Insurance is a challenging everchanging sector to work in, but working at HMCA has helped me develop both professionally and personally.”
As part of our dress down Friday last month we raised £250 for the Friends of Knaresborough St John’s (The PTA), a school close to our head office.
The funds raised will help the school build new sheltered areas within the playgrounds, providing shade, shelter and opportunities for outdoor learning throughout the year.
We also donated £250 to another school in Knaresborough, The Forest School.
Head of the School Emma Nuttall said: “We truly appreciate your organisation’s support. This contribution will be used to create enriched learning opportunities for our pupils, all of whom have special educational needs.”
As mentioned in our last bulletin, Accounts Assistant Katie has now completed her seven-day trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, in memory of her nana.
By completing the epic challenge, she has raised more than £1,000 for Alzheimer’s Society to support the incredible support, care, and research it provides.
Well done, Katie! You can still donate by clicking here.
We are delighted to announce we have been shortlisted in this year’s Workplace Savings and Benefits (WSB) Awards in both the Health Cash Plan Provider of the Year and Healthcare and Wellbeing Provider of the Year categories.
The WSB Awards recognise benefit providers with outstanding offerings and those that have made meaningful improvements over the past 12 months. These nominations reflect our continued work in delivering valuable member benefits, that help organisations support the health and wellbeing of their members.
We are excited to attend the awards ceremony at the Marriott Grosvenor Square on Wednesday, September 9.
We also continue to be a Recognised Supplier of MemberWise, an independent professional network that provides practical help and support to circa 8,000+ membership and association professionals based in the UK and overseas.
Recent research from MemberWise found that the real engine behind delivering real value to members is the quality of your member benefits. Strong perks give members tangible and intangible benefits: they feel recognized, supported, and rewarded for their loyalty.
HMCA is the only medical insurance provider recognised by MemberWise, highlighting our excellence in only focusing on this sector since 1978.
Since 1978 we have had a strong focus on the over-50s market and are constantly looking at the ways we relate to this audience, through our marketing, messaging and products.
With many of our medical plans particularly relevant to our member demographic we remain committed to ensuring that this important audience is understood, respected and represented in the way we communicate.
As part of this focus, we are delighted to share that we’ve become a member of the Silver Marketing Association, an organisation dedicated to promoting ethical, inclusive and effective marketing to the over-50s market.
We recently attended the Silver Marketing Association Summit in London, where industry experts shared valuable insights into the rapidly growing Silver Economy.
The event reinforced many of the principles that have shaped our approach for decades. In particular, the importance of authentic communication, trust, and ensuring we relate to our members in ways that are relevant and meaningful.
The over-50s market is not a niche audience. It is one of the UK’s largest and fastest-growing population groups. Our experience has shown that communicating respectfully, clearly helps build stronger relationships with members.
We’re proud to be supporting the Silver Marketing Association’s mission and look forward to continuing to learn, collaborate and help shape more inclusive marketing practices.
With demand for private healthcare continuing to rise, membership groups play a critical role in helping members understand their options and access faster routes to diagnosis and treatment.
