Knaresborough-based HMCA were thrilled to sponsor the Family Business category at this year’s Stray Ferret Business Awards 2026.
Representatives from the family-owned Hospital & Medical Care Association (HMCA) attended the black-tie event, which was held at Pavilions of Harrogate.
HMCA has been one of the most successful membership benefit providers in the UK for more than 48 years and specalise in offering these benefits exclusively for membership groups.
This was the fourth year of the awards, run by The Stray Ferret, a daily online newspaper, serving Harrogate, Knaresborough and surrounding areas, which celebrate the best of the district’s business community.
HMCA was delighted to sponsor the award for Family Business which was won by jewellers Ogden of Harrogate.
The Ogden family have been a distinguished jewellery business since 1893, serving the families of Yorkshire as well as generations of both royal and public figures.
It was fitting that their award was sponsored by another family-run business in HMCA.
Back in 1978, HMCA was originally founded by Barney and Julia Skrentny and boasted just three employees.
It has since grown to provide a portfolio of membership benefits to more than 600 groups and maintains the family ethos from its head office at Beech Hall in Knaresborough.
HMCA offers benefits exclusively for members of professional and trade associations and membership groups.
These groups include English Heritage, the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), and Countryside Magazine.
